Just Because: The TAG Heuer Monaco That Went To The Edge Of Space
I made a special 22 mm long watchband for TAG Heuer that DID go into space aboard the ISS - no pictures, though, so no proof :( but it the batch was re-purposed used for this U2 flight. We're the small supplier in the article - blink and you'll miss it!
Since the Monaco had to fit over the large O-ring of Bunting's spacesuit, he had to find a long velcro strap like those used on prior NASA missions. With the help of TAG Heuer's Heritage Director Nicholas Biebuyck, Bunting was able to get a replica NASA velcro strap from a small supplier. The strap arrived from Switzerland just one day before the flight.
